Alright, so last month I decided to take another whack at losing weight. After being obese for my entire life (except maybe for the first couple years after high school), I reached my all-time heaviest weight at 311 pounds this past January, and for the last few months I’ve been hovering between 308 and 300.
I launched a new weight loss vlog series on Youtube a few weeks ago. It was supposed to be a daily vlog to last all through the summer (100 days), but I stalled out within the first couple weeks and ended up putting the vlog on hold for a little bit.
Right now, I’m just trying to reset myself and start recording again tomorrow with the vlogs actually going public three weeks after the actual date of recording. This will give me a good amount of time to get all my editing and thumbnails done, even if I need to take several days off before I’m ready to upload.
I was originally planning to focus on walking and calisthenics for the summer. I wanted to ease into it gradually, first by forming the daily habit of walking for 30 minutes and doing 100 reps of various calisthenics. I wasn’t really doing anything with diet at first, because I wanted to just make small changes one at a time. Then after getting that locked in as a new habit, I’d make another change, lock it in and then make another change, etc.
Slow and steady.
As expected, there were some ups and downs and skipped workout sessions, but ultimately I kept coming back around. But then I unexpectedly ended up signing up at Planet Fitness (my son wanted me to work out with him when his usual workout partner was unable to make it).
So that’s where I’m at right now. My weight went down and then back up and now is coming back down again. This morning I was 303 lbs. I’ve been working out at the gym 2-3 times a week, as my motivation and my gas tank allow.
Here’s the first few videos in the series. I’ll hopefully get the next video out on Monday, July 1, 2019. That will be Day 22, and we’ll just keep it going from there with daily – or almost daily – videos.

At the beginning of summer I launched a new weight loss vlog on Youtube (See Playlist: “Failed Weight Loss Vlog”). That lasted only a couple weeks before I burned out and stopped vlogging.
Then, a few weeks later, I wrote this post (above) where I was planning to relaunch the daily vlog on Youtube — but that never happened smh
Then, one month ago (on Monday 08/05/19), I launched a new daily weight loss vlog (See Playlist: “My New Weight Loss Journey“)…and then I burned out again after like a couple weeks.
Sigh. Sorry, you guys. Welcome to my life.
So now it’s been a couple weeks since I put up a vlog on Youtube, and it’s been about four weeks since I began this latest weight loss vlog. I’m not going to scrap it and start a new series again, though. Instead, I’m starting it up again, but I’m not sure how many times per week I’ll do it. Perhaps daily, perhaps not.
Anyway, the next blog post will be a recap of month 1 in my new weight loss journey. Stay tuned…
